Friday Night Funkin' (FNF) is a music-themed action game based on PaRappa The Rapper and Dance Dance Revolution.
Boyfriend (Boyfriend) and Girlfriend (Girlfriend) are the central characters of FNF, and their objective is to kiss at the conclusion of each night. However, the Boyfriend must first obtain her father's permission! He'll have to perform at his best to impress Daddy Dearest! Other adversaries will appear along the road, and you'll have to vanquish them with the power of music.
Friday Night Funkin is a difficult rhythm game in which the screen will display the notes to be struck at specified moments, and the game will award points for both accuracy and timing of the beat. The gameplay is similar to DDR in that you push a key when the floating arrow's form matches yours (seen at the top of the screen).
The gauge has the ability to shift to the left or right. When The Boyfriend wins, it will move to the left, and when he loses, it will move to the right. Depending on how he plays, the color of the meter will also vary (green represents victory and red represents loss). You'll also face off against musicians such as Pico, Monster, Skid, and Pump. The game's mechanics will remain the same regardless of who you play with.
Press the WASD or arrow keys in time with the music to outperform your opponents. Complete the tutorial level and start progressing through the story, or head to free play mode and play against any story characters from the game. In story mode, you can set the level of difficulty that best suits your ability.
